Music for September 18, 2016

OuseleySunday at 10:30 a.m. the Saint Mark’s Choir sings Frederick A. Gore Ouseley’s “From the Rising of the Sun” and C. Hubert H. Parry’s “Prevent Us, O Lord.” Tyler W. Robertson plays organ works by C. Hubert H. Parry and Johann Jakob Froberger. All are welcome!

Pictured here is Frederick A. Gore Ouseley (1825–1889), an important figure in the Oxford Movement of the Anglican Church. Ouseley came from an aristocratic heritage but was drawn to music and composition at an young age. He was precentor at Hereford Cathedral from 1855 until his death. His most notable student was the English composer John Stainer.
