Contemplative Prayer

This group is geared towards hearing God’s voice in our daily lives and can be thought of as a kind of Christian meditation that employs methods from Lectio Divinia.

Lectio Divinia (Latin for “Divine Reading”) is a traditional monastic practice of scriptural reading, meditation, and prayer intended to promote communion with God and to increase the knowledge of God’s Word.

Traditionally, Lectio Divinia has four separate steps: read, meditate, pray, contemplate. First a passage of scripture is read, then its meaning is reflected upon. This is followed by prayer and contemplation on the Word of God.

The group meets every other Wednesday from 7 – 8 p.m. and hold yearly prayer retreats. The inaugural retreat was held at Transfiguration Spirituality Center in 2019
