Pictured here is the great Franco-Flemish composer Orlande de Lassus (c.1532–1594), one of the finest composers of the late sixteenth century. Born in Mons in modern-day Belgium, Lassus spent the majority of his career at the Bavarian court in Munich. He was a highly versatile composer, writing works in nearly every important genre, both sacred and secular.
