Hubert Parry

Sunday at 10:30 a.m. the Saint Mark’s Choir sings Hubert Parry’s beautiful anthem “Dear Lord and Father” and Thomas Weelkes’s anthem “Early Will I Seek Thee.” Tyler Robertson plays organ works by Felix Mendelssohn and Friedrich Wilhelm Zachau. All are welcome!

Pictured here is the English composer and teacher Charles Hubert Hastings Parry (1848–1918). From 1883 Parry was Professor of Composition and Musical History at the Royal College of Music. In 1895 he became the head of the College, a post that he retained for the remainder of his life. Among those composers who studied composition under Parry at the College were Ralph Vaughan Williams, Gustav Holst, and John Ireland.
