lassusFrom the Music Office: Sunday at 10:30 a.m. the Saint Mark’s Choir sings George Frideric Handel’s “Praise the Lord” and Orlande de Lassus’s motet “Jubilate Deo.” Tyler Robertson plays organ works by Renaud de Vilbac and George Frideric Handel. All are welcome!

Pictured here is the great Franco-Flemish composer Orlande de Lassus (c.1532–1594), one of the finest composers of the late sixteenth century. Born in Mons in modern-day Belgium, Lassus spent the majority of his career at the Bavarian court in Munich. He was a highly versatile composer, writing works in nearly every important genre, both sacred and secular.
